We invite you to join us at mood on a Tuesday afternoon. Every other week, at exactly 2 p.m., part of our team gathers for a “new creations” meeting – with our jewellers, goldsmiths, our stone-setter Sandrine, our lead designer Amila, our head of production Philippe, and myself.
This Tuesday: a challenge. Our designer had envisioned a rare and precious piece of jewellery that required a significant number of yellow gemstones. But… diamonds with those characteristics are hard to come by. You could see the disappointment on the team's faces – but only for a brief moment.
Because at mood, we prefer to see opportunities instead of obstacles. And then it happened – as if by magic – the idea appeared: why not create brand-new yellow lab-grown diamonds? It would also be a chance to tell a beautiful story… perhaps even write a legend.
But what would these new gems be made of? It had to be something that truly made sense for our project. After all, this new piece of jewellery was meant to reflect a hidden treasure in the heart of the Alps and the untouched magic of Zermatt’s landscapes.
Skis, perhaps? A stone from the Matterhorn? A wooden board from the first chairlift? Just a few minutes later, the answer was clear: these sparkling diamonds would be created from delicate alpine grasses – carefully gathered at the foot of Switzerland’s iconic mountain. They would embody the purity of Switzerland and the spirit of the Alps.
And so the idea was born.
For the colour of the “Pur” diamonds, we naturally chose yellow – but we also decided to create a light pink edition, inspired by the soft light that mysteriously brushes the Matterhorn during sunset.
